The Department of the Arts and Humanities of the University of Cologne is currently seeking to fill the position of a PhD Student in the Collaborative Research Center 1252 "Prominence in Language" starting 3/01/2017 with a weekly working time of 25,89 hours (65% position). The initial contract will be until 12/31/2020. The salary is based on the German E13 TV-L scale if terms and conditions under collective bargaining law are fulfilled.

Job description:
PhD student for the project B04 ´"Interaction of nominal and verbal features for Differential Object Marking"
- Prepare and conduct corpus analyses,
- Prepare, conduct and analyze elicitation experiments.

Your tasks:
- You will collect relevant data for Differential Object Marking in Spanish from different corpora as well as statistically analyze these data by yourself.
- You will conduct elicitation experiments for Differential Object Marking in Spanish as well as statistically analyze these experiments by yourself.
- You will assist in analyzing and interpreting the data.
- You will present your results at international conferences and make them available to the research community.

Your profile:
- You will collect relevant data for Differential Object Marking in Spanish from different corpora as well as statistically analyze these data by yourself.
- You will conduct elicitation experiments for Differential Object Marking in Spanish as well as statistically analyze these experiments by yourself.
- You will present your results at international conferences and make them available to the research community.
- You are capable of working in a team and to work at the interface to related projects.
- You are capable of quickly adapting to new research topics.
- A high knowledge of German in speaking and writing is essential.

Formal requirements:
- You have earned a university degree with a good background in Spanish linguistics.
