The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Bethel University, St. Paul, MN, invites qualified applicants for a position in Spanish literature and/or linguistics, which includes the opportunity to develop connections with Spanish-speaking communities.

Teach the equivalent of seven courses per year. The candidate?s strengths and experience will determine nature of courses taught (Spanish language, culture, and literature; linguistics) and additional responsibilities, such as teaching and overseeing the introductory level courses or the TEFL or Linguistics major. Develop collaborations with the Spanish-speaking community. General faculty responsibilities include student advising, as well as departmental and committee assignments.

Required Skills
Commitment to communicative approaches to the teaching of languages and cultures. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel?s anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.

Required Experience
Experience demonstrating an ability to involve students at all course levels with a Spanish-speaking community. Evidence of successful teaching.

Required Education
Ph.D in Hispanic Linguistics or Spanish preferred; ABD considered.
