Following the successful introduction of Spanish in 2015 and above-target undergraduate recruitment, the Department of Modern Languages and European Studies at the University of Reading is now seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Spanish or, preferably, (Hispanic) Latin American Studies.
The Lecturer?s role will be to undertake high-quality teaching and research in the area of post-1700 Hispanic studies, to teach on the core Spanish-language degree programme, as well as to contribute to the administration and other activities of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Reading. The ability to contribute to the Department?s existing research strengths (notably colonial/ postcolonial studies; migration; conflict studies; book and publishing history) and/or to the teaching of department-wide comparative modules would be an advantage.
You will have:
A completed PhD or equivalent in any area of Spanish or, preferably, (Hispanic) Latin American Studies.
Expertise in, and a proven and substantial record of research publication in any area of Spanish or (Hispanic) Latin American Studies, appropriate to your career stage.
The ability to teach both Spanish language and areas of post-1700 Spanish and/or Latin American Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The ability and willingness to carry out the administrative duties associated with teaching, as well as other administrative duties, in a timely and effective manner.
The willingness to contribute fully to raising the profile of Spanish and Latin American Studies at the University of Reading and more widely.
