The Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Españolas (ILCE) at Universidad de Navarra (Spain) seeks a dynamic instructor and researcher with substantial experience teaching Spanish at the university level (2 to 4 years of teaching Spanish at international institutions, especially in North America). In addition to teaching responsibilities, the optimal candidate will also conduct research in teaching Spanish as a second language.

This is a one semester visiting appointment: Fall 2017 (possibility of re-appointment for one more semester: Spring 2018).

Stipend: 1,800 euros per month for 4 months. Additional funding is also available for presenting research at competitive conferences.

Paid Housing: the selected candidate may stay at university dorms at no cost.

General duties include: teaching three 6 ECTS Spanish language courses (18 ECTS per semester), developing syllabi and assignments, writing exams, holding office hours, and participating in all professional development activities, conferences, and meetings organized by ILCE (other relevant duties may be assigned by the Director of Institute as necessary).

Selected candidate will become part of a dynamic team of Spanish researchers, teachers, and professors in one of the leading research centers on Spanish Second Language Acquisition in Europe, ILCE. Candidate is expected to teach innovative Spanish language, literature and culture courses, and to participate in research projects at the ILCE.

Qualifications: MA in Spanish Second Language Teaching or Foreign Language Teaching from an accredited institution of higher education. Doctoral students in Applied Linguistics looking for international teaching experiences at research universities are encouraged to apply.

Demonstrated experience teaching Spanish language, literature, and culture courses to international students at university level for at least 2 years. Applicants must have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English to be able to teach in Spanish and/or English.

Letter of application, updated CV, statement of teaching philosophy, research statement, two recent teaching evaluations, and contact information for three references are required of all applicants.

Letters of recommendation are not required for initial application. When reference letters are solicited by the Institute, they will be treated as confidential by Universidad de Navarra.

Finalist will be interviewed via video-conference.
