The purpose of the faculty member is to fulfill the educational mission of the department, the college and the university in cooperation with the other members of the department and others in the university community.

1. Comply with the Life University Honor Code as well as all university and college policies, including those in the Faculty Handbook.
2. Primarily responsible for the instruction, supervision and evaluation of students in the classroom, laboratory setting and/or field work as well as course assessments for the department in accordance with all applicable University standards.
3. Encourage free pursuit of learning among students and discharge pedagogical responsibilities to the highest standards.
4. Prepare a syllabus for each course taught using the college template and post it to the class on the Blackboard site.
5. Teach class in a professional manner, teaching the material that is present in the syllabus and course outline.
6. Start and end each class on time.
7. Post in a prominent place your teaching and student office hours schedule for each quarter. Be present during student office hours. Office hours are for the primary purpose of communicating with students regarding the courses you are teaching and academic advising.
8. Maintain a professional work week to include all responsibilities of the position beyond classroom and office hours as required and requested.
9. Appropriately maintain all necessary records for each course taught.
10. Request peers to assist you in proctoring exams. For large classes every exam should have at least one proctor and the instructor present.
11. Cultivate in oneself and others an attitude of helpfulness, personal commitment to building relationships, managing to the best solution, and user friendly always.

2. Exceptional writing skills and experience.
3. Ability to work with and maintain confidential student information.
4. Strong interpersonal skills.
5. High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
6. Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
7. Appropriate multimedia and computer skills.

Minimum Requirements
1. Master's in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics, Spanish Education, or equivalent.
2. 2 years teaching experience in higher education.
Preferred Qualifications
1. PhD in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics, Spanish Education, or equivalent.
2. 3 or more years teaching experience in higher education.
