The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Delaware seeks applicants for a full-time, continuing, non-tenure-track position to teach all levels of Spanish language, including grammar, composition, and oral communication, as well as courses in applied linguistics. Position available September 1, 2018. The incumbent will have the opportunity to engage in service roles within the Spanish section including, but not limited to, the coordination of multi-section language courses, the supervision and mentorship of teaching assistants, and the directorship of study abroad programs. Standard teaching load is 4 courses (12 credits) per semester; however, it is anticipated that the teaching load will be administered to 4-3 to make room for assigned service. Candidates must have a completed PhD in Hispanic or Applied Linguistics at the time of appointment, a demonstrated excellence in teaching, and native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish. Desired areas of expertise include one or more of the following: language instruction and learning, including technology-enhanced learning, phonetics, grammar, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, service-learning, and Spanish for specific purposes.
