Descripción

The Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Españolas (ILCE) at Universidad de Navarra (Spain) seeks a dynamic visiting professor and researcher with substantial experience teaching Spanish undergraduate and graduate courses at the university level in the United States (3 to 5 years of experience). In addition to teaching responsibilities, the optimal candidate will also conduct research in teaching Spanish as a second language.

This is a non-renewable one semester visiting appointment: Fall 2018 (with opportunity to renew for Spring 2019).
This is an ideal position for professors with Sabbatical Leaves.

Stipend: 1,800 euros per month. Additional funding may be available for presenting research at competitive conferences.

Research and Teaching: Selected candidate will become part of a dynamic team of Spanish researchers, teachers, and professors in one of the leading research centers on Spanish Second Language Acquisition in Europe. Active research agenda and presentation of research in weekly meeting of the institute is expected. Candidate is also expected to teach innovative Spanish language, linguistics, literature, and culture courses, and to participate in research projects at the ILCE.

Teaching load (3 courses per semester): teaching a graduate seminar for the newly created MA Program in Spanish SLA, and teaching two undergraduate Spanish language courses. ILCE professors develop syllabi and assignments, writing exams, final projects, holding weekly office hours, and participating in all professional development activities, conferences, and research meetings organized by ILCE (other relevant duties may be assigned by the Director of Institute as necessary).

Qualifications: PhD in Spanish Second Language Teaching or Foreign Language Teaching from an accredited institution of higher education, preferably from the United States.

Deadline for applications: January 15th 2018.
Letter of application, updated CV, statement of teaching philosophy, research statement, two recent teaching evaluations, two publications, and contact information for three references are required of all applicants.

Letters of recommendation are not required for initial application. When reference letters are solicited by the Institute, they will be treated as confidential by Universidad de Navarra.

Finalists will be interviewed via video-conference in early February.

Applications must be submitted electronically to Dr. Eduardo Negueruela: enegueruela@unav.es
