The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Queensborough Community College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Spanish starting Fall 2019.
The successful candidate will teach Spanish at all levels, including, Spanish for Heritage speakers, literature/culture courses, and Spanish for Medical Personnel, incorporating new pedagogical approaches, multimedia and computer-assisted teaching methodologies. The faculty member will: be available to coordinate the Spanish Program when needed; assist in the administering of foreign language placement procedures; provide mentoring and academic assistance and advisement to students during the semester and as part of the registration process; develop curricular and teaching materials; assist in curriculum/faculty development and course assessment; participate in the college?s Assessment Institute; serve on departmental and college committees and as faculty advisor to the foreign language club; and teach some evening and weekend classes if required.

The Assistant Professor will be required to demonstrate a record of scholarly research and publications for re-appointment, tenure and promotion.

Ph.D. degree in Spanish, Applied Linguistics or Second-Language Acquisition from an accredited institution of higher education.
