The Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Linguistics at West Virginia University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Applied Linguistics/Spanish beginning August 2019. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities: teaching undergraduate and graduate Spanish language and content classes (including a language teaching methods class), maintaining an active research agenda, and coordinating lower-level Spanish language classes, graduate teaching assistants, and other instructional staff.

This position, which is based on a nine-month contract, requires demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching; abilities in program development and coordination; a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Studies/Acquisition, Spanish, or a closely related field by the time of appointment (ABDs with a clear graduation trajectory prior to the start date are welcome to apply); ability to maintain an active research program; and excellent communication skills in both English and Spanish.
