Exeter College proposes, if there is a suitable candidate, to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Spanish. This is a fixed-term role, tenable from 1 January 2019 until 30 September 2019, and the postholder will teach Spanish language and literature to undergraduates.

The Lecturer will be required to undertake 96 ?contact? hours of tutorial or class teaching of undergraduates of the College (or, by exchange, undergraduates of other Colleges) during the period of the appointment. In addition, they will be required to set and mark College examinations, to participate fully in Open Days and other outreach activities, and to participate fully in the running of Modern Languages within the College.

. literature tutorials and seminars to first-year students on the full range of topics and authors required by the syllabus;

. for the Final Honour School syllabus (students in years 2?4): Paper VII (Spanish Literature 1543?1695), together with the prescribed authors of the same period for Paper X (Garcilaso de la Vega, Cervantes, Góngora, Quevedo, Calderón).

The ability to contribute to the teaching of some of the Special Subjects (Paper XIIs, and supervision of relevant Paper XIVs), as detailed in the Final Honour School Handbook, will be considered an advantage.

The Lecturer will be appointed to a point on the Senior Tutors? Committee?s Register of Approved Payments for Stipendiary Lecturers (currently £13,247 to £14,899 for the period of the appointment). In addition to salary, a range of other generous benefits are available.
