We seek a generalist with strong teaching credentials in first- and second-year language classes, as well as upper-level classes in conversation, grammar, literature, and culture. The successful candidate will teach and advise a culturally diverse undergraduate population of majors, minors, and BA students. We have an active teacher-education program, and all of our majors are required to study abroad, so teacher education or study abroad experience is valuable, as is the ability to teach a second language, such as Italian, Portuguese, French, Latin, German, Japanese, etc., or to teach interdisciplinary courses, such as Ethnic Studies, Women?s Studies, Film Studies, or Religious Studies. A willingness to work with student groups and to participate in department events is also important.

Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Spanish or a related field such as Comparative Literature with an emphasis on Spanish in hand by August 2019 is preferred. ABD may be acceptable.

This is a 9-month tenure-track faculty appointment in Spanish. Experience and qualifications must warrant appointment as assistant professor or higher at a regional university. The successful candidate will have a 4-4 teaching load, typically with three preparations per semester, including a wide variety of courses from introductory Spanish language to upper level courses in Spanish and Latin American Literatures and Cultures. First-year classes equal four credits and upper-level classes equal three credits for 12-15 credits per semester. This position reports to the department chair and is responsible for teaching, advising, university and departmental service, and professional development.
