The Instituto de Lengua y Cultura Españolas (ILCE) at Universidad de Navarra (Spain) seeks a dynamic visiting instructor with substantial experience teaching Spanish undergraduate and graduate courses at the university level in the United States (2 to 4 years of teaching experience and living in the US). We are looking for candidates with an active research agenda in Spanish SLA from a social or sociocultural perspective.

Duration: This is a one semester visiting appointment: Fall 2019 (possibility of re-appointment for one more semester: Spring 2020 and Summer 2020).

Stipend: 1,800 euros per month for 4 to 8 months. Additional funding is also available for instructors willing to teach during the Summer months.

Research and Teaching: Selected candidate will become part of a dynamic team of researchers, teachers, and professors in one of the leading research centers on Spanish Second Language Acquisition in Europe. Active research agenda and attendance and presentation of research in weekly meeting at the institute are expected. Candidate is also expected to participate in research projects at the ILCE.

Teaching load: Visiting faculty will teach 3 courses per semester. Depending on research and teaching interests, candidate may also teach innovative Spanish language, linguistics, literature, and culture courses. ILCE professors and instructors develop syllabi and assignments, writing exams, final projects, holding weekly office hours, and participating in all professional development activities, conferences, and research meetings organized by ILCE (other relevant duties may be assigned by the Director of Institute as necessary). Depending on CV, candidate may teach in the ILCE MA program in Spanish Second Language Acquisition and Teaching:

Qualifications: PhD in Spanish Second Language Teaching or Spanish Applied Linguistics from an accredited institution of higher education, substantial teaching experience in the US (2-4 years), and an active research agenda in Spanish SLA.

Documentation: Letter of application, updated CV, research statement, one representative publication, two recent teaching evaluations, and contact information for three references are required of all applicants. Letters of recommendation are not required for initial application. If the selection committee solicits reference letters, Universidad de Navarra will treat them as confidential.
