Xavier University invites applications for a Teaching Professor of Spanish, starting Fall 2019. Candidates must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching and demonstrate excellence in language teaching.

Candidates should be able to help support a diverse and inclusive student community while teaching courses in Spanish language. Candidates must be committed to outstanding teaching in a liberal arts tradition of active learning, knowledgeable of best practices of second language acquisition & pedagogy, familiar with new technologies for teaching languages, and willing to provide service consistent with the mission of Jesuit higher education.

Required Qualifications:
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
- M.A. in Spanish or related field; PhD preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in student-centered teaching and active learning. Ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues, university administrators, and the community.
- Background, specialization, or other preparation in the area of pedagogy, second language acquisition, and/or language teaching.
