Fellows receive a monthly living allowance, with additional funding for accommodation and a mobility allowance to cover travel costs.
The Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS) invites researchers to apply for fellowships in the academic year 2026/27.
The following formats are available:
- Early Career Fellowships (4–10 months) for researchers up to eight years after completing their PhD
- Senior Fellowships (3–8 months) for scholars with at least eight years of postdoctoral research experience
- One Sustainable Governance Fellowship (6 months) for researchers in the Humanities and Social Sciences based at African institutions
The call is open to researchers from all disciplines and nationalities who hold a doctoral degree.
