The role
The Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department at BIS Hanoi is a collaborative, forward-thinking team consisting of highly motivated teachers who come together to provide exceptional learning experiences for our students.

Our MFL journey begins in Year 1 within our Primary school, and in Years 7-9, students have the choice of either French or Spanish. Both languages are offered at IGCSE and IBDP levels. We take immense pride in being able to offer both languages at IGCSE and Language B and Language Ab Initio courses within the IBDP.

French and Spanish are both highly valued subjects, by both students and staff alike, consistently yielding impressive academic achievements. Outside of the classroom our MFL team contribute significantly to the wider curriculum offering many enrichment opportunities throughout the year.

We are currently seeking an exceptional candidate who has the vision, drive, and collaborative skills to successfully lead the department and maintain its excellent standards across all year levels. For this position, we are looking for someone who has the capability to teach both languages up to IBDP level.

Purpose of the Role:

• To lead and provide day-to-day management and organisation of the highly successful whole-school Modern Foreign Languages department.

• As a key middle leader, assist in developing long-term strategies to raise standards in the subject and the school generally.

• Foster a culture of high performance within the team, with learning and student well-being as central foci.

• Encourage a culture of collaboration, risk-taking, and support within the team, and promote a shared vision.
