Lawrence University invites applications for a tenure track appointment as Assistant Professor of Spanish with expertise in Hispanic linguistics.
Full-time tenure-track appointment to begin on September 1, 2024.
Lawrence is a selective undergraduate liberal arts college and conservatory located in Appleton, WI. Competitive candidates for this appointment will be committed to continuing and strengthening our heritage language program. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per term in Spanish language and Hispanic linguistics (one release available during the first year), developing courses that complement the university’s offerings, helping to coordinate the instruction and assessment of language and culture courses, advising students after the second year of appointment, engaging in departmental and university service, and occasionally teaching First Year Studies, our signature program.
Requisitos
The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach courses such as sociolinguistics, L2 methodology, Spanish phonetics and phonology, bilingualism, or heritage language pedagogy, and have a strong background in language proficiency assessment. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is required.
Ph.D. in hand preferred.
Candidates are expected to be familiar with current teaching methods and experienced with innovative educational technology.
