The School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies seeks the appointment of a Teaching Fellow - Language Coordinator (Spanish) based in the Department of Hispanic Studies to contribute to teaching and assessment across the undergraduate curriculum and work with colleagues to review our provision of language teaching (from A1 to C2 of the CEFR) in light of research-based language pedagogies and best practice. The successful applicant will have a doctorate with a specialization in any area of Hispanic Studies. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career academic seeking to contribute to the teaching and learning portfolio of a dynamic, growing Department, overseeing the implementation of new and transformational language teaching methodologies.

Essential
- Strong academic record and Ph.D. in a relevant area of Hispanic Studies in hand at time of application.
- Demonstrated ability in second language acquisition or applied language pedagogy.

- Experience of teaching excellence at third level
- Experience of Language coordination at third level and/or willingness to attend relevant training
- Dynamic individual capable of working on own initiative and in collaboration with others
- Knowledge and understanding of current language teaching methodologies and debates
- Experience of technology use in teaching and assessments
- Experience of language curriculum development at third level
- Willingness to assist in the mentoring and training of occasional staff employed to teach language
- A sound understanding of e-learning pedagogies

- Native or near-native competence in both Spanish and English
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and willingness to coordinate an established language team
- Planning and organizational skills, particularly with regard to the management of data and effective management of a demanding workload
- Excellent IT skills including Office 365 applications
- Experience using virtual learning environments, such as Blackboard or equivalent
