In addition to being one of the top historically black universities in the world, Hampton University is a tightly-knit community of learners and educators, representing 49 states and 35 territories and nations. The Department of English and Foreign Language at Hampton University, which houses the BA in Film Studies and the BA in English, and minors in Spanish, English Arts, Creative Writing, and Film Studies, is seeking to fill a faculty position at the Assistant professor level in Spanish and French beginning fall 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be committed to teaching undergraduate courses such as Elementary Spanish, Intermediate Spanish; Elementary French, Intermediate French; and the Advanced Oral & Written Expression courses in Spanish or in French. Candidates may also be asked to teach advanced elective courses in Spanish or French. Additionally, successful candidates are expected to advise English and Foreign Languages majors and hold office hours. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the scholarly advancement of the department through a productive research agenda that includes grantsmanship.  Candidates should demonstrate dedication to the progress of the English and Foreign Language Department, the School of Liberal Arts and Education, and to the University as a whole, through service activities.
