Appointment will be made on the Lecturer Salary Scale (109BN) commensurate with qualifications / experience and in line with Public Sector Pay Policy [€84,409 -€109,000 per annum; https://www.tcd.ie/hr/assets/pdf/monthly-academic.pdf]. Appointment is intended at point 1 in the first instance, honouring the relevant scale point for colleagues already in the public service in Ireland.

The School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies (SLLCS) welcomes applications from candidates with demonstrated excellence in research, teaching and service for the position of Associate Professor in Hispanic Studies. Field of specialization is open but should not duplicate existing expertise within the Department of Hispanic Studies.

The successful applicant will be expected to take up post in September 2023, or as soon thereafter as possible.

Requisitos 

Essential Qualifications

  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish AND English and ability to communicate effectively in both.
  • A doctoral degree in Hispanic Studies or related field from an accredited university.
  • Specialization in any area of Hispanic studies (in relation to language, literature and cultural studies).
  • Ability to teach literature and culture across a broad spectrum (including research-led and research-informed teaching).

Research And Research Income
Essential

  • Evidence of ongoing, prolific research activity and of making significant research contributions to the field, in the form of monographs and publications in peer-reviewed international journals and/or publications of equal standing, in line with the role of Associate Professor.
  • Experience of research supervision at postgraduate level and a solid track record of recruitment of doctoral students and PhD supervision to completion.
  • Ability to play a role, both singly and collaboratively, in applying for substantial grant funding for research as appropriate to the discipline.
  • Expertise in advancing the field at national and nternational level.

Desirable

  • Evidence of large grant applications and grant capture.
  • Track record of organising large events for the scholarly community as well as the general public.
  • Track record of being part of national and international research networks.
  • Ability to contribute to the various research Centres of the School and the Faculty and initiative to lead in new developments.
