Applications are invited for the post of Language Tutor in Spanish in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures to start 2 September 2024. This is a permanent, term-time only post (41 weeks).

The successful applicant will join a vibrant department hosting students of Spanish, French, German and Italian, as part of a wide choice of flexible degree programmes.

The appointee will be expected to teach, convene and examine undergraduate courses in Spanish language and translation at all levels, to contribute to administrative duties, and to attend relevant meetings as required. They will work closely with the Departmental Language Co-ordinator and the Undergraduate Education Lead, in areas including curriculum design, lesson planning, and the implementation of learning technologies.

Applicants should have a proven track record of excellence in teaching Spanish or, in the case of early career candidates, relevant experience and demonstrable potential. 

Ideally applicants should have experience of teaching Spanish language at both beginners’ and advanced levels, and preferably in a university environment. They should have a strong commitment to developing innovative and inclusive teaching materials, an ability to engage creatively with students, and a native or near-native command of spoken and written Spanish.

Right to work: Please note that it will not be possible for the University to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship to the successful candidate for this position. Therefore, the appointable candidate will need to be eligible to work in the UK or have leave to remain in the UK and associated right to work for the duration of their employment with the University, in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
