Lecturer below the bar in Spanish

Tenure Track (five year fixed term). During the term of the contract the successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply for tenure in accordance with the University's Policy and Procedures for Granting Multi-annual Status to Tenure Track Academic Staff.

Job Description

Requisitos 

Essential Criteria

  • A PhD (NFQ Level 10) in an area of Spanish Language (e.g. pedagogy, acquisition) or a cognate discipline (including modern languages and linguistics).
  • Demonstrated excellence in, or potential for, producing high-quality publications in an area relevant to the post.
  • Proven record of achievement in research, with a developing international reputation.
  • Native or near-native command, spoken and written, of both English and Spanish (at CEFR C2 level for non-native languages).
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Spanish language teaching and evidence of teaching effectiveness in Spanish or related areas.
  • Evidence of effective administrative duties related to teaching and/or research.
  • Proven experience in working as a member of a team in a collegial and collaborative manner.

Desirable Criteria

  • A proven record of obtaining (or evidence of potential to obtain) external research funding.
  • Experience in teaching Spanish for specific purposes/professions (such as Spanish for Business).
  • Interest in the organisation of extra-curricular and outreach activities involving post-primary education sectors.
  • Willingness to develop the social-media profile of Spanish.
