€58,917 to €93,991 p.a. (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)

Descripción 

Applications are invited for a permanent appointment as Lecturer Contract type B in the discipline of Spanish and Latin American Studies at University of Galway. The appointment will be made on the Lecturer salary scale and will commence on 1st September, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The appointee will be an employee of the University of Galway, working in Spanish and Latin American Studies within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. 

The appointee will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching language and culture at both undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Discipline and on the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The appointee will also undertake supervision of MA and PhD students and serve on Graduate Research Committees.

The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the teaching of Spanish language at all levels, culture modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level within Spanish and the wider School. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the research culture of the Discipline and School and build on their research profile, developing national and international network links, and producing research of an international standard.

Requisitos 

The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching and related academic administration, research, and publication in the area of Spanish. Preference will be given to the following priority areas: Spanish African literature and culture; literature and culture of the Caribbean and Central America; literature and culture of South America. Candidates must have research expertise and a track record of teaching on race and ethnicity and/or gender.

Applicants must have a PhD in a subject area relevant to the post (Literature, Culture and Society of Spanish Africa; Race and Ethnicity in the Caribbean and Central America; Gender Studies) and have teaching and research expertise in related areas.
