The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Smith College invites applications for a two-year, benefits-eligible post-doctoral fellowship in Spanish, to begin July 1, 2023.
Responsibilities include teaching one course per semester (two courses per year) in the Spanish curriculum, program and community building, working both formally and informally with undergraduate students, from mentoring to advising them on research projects, and creating and convening conversations on issues related to the successful candidate’s research.
Requisitos
Ph.D. in Spanish or relevant field is expected by the time of appointment. We welcome candidates working on Latin American cultural studies, broadly defined. We are particularly interested in candidates with research that innovatively engages the Black diaspora (from Caribbean and Afro-Latinx geographies to Spanish-speaking Equatorial Guinea) and/or transnational indigeneities, including from transpacific or transatlantic perspectives. Intersectional perspectives, innovative pedagogical approaches, and experience working with heritage speakers of Spanish are especially welcome.
