Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications as well as aligned with the details contained in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Millersville University Promotion Statement.

The Department of English & World Languages in the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences welcomes applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning August 2023. Responsibilities include teaching, advising students, scholarly or creative work and department and university service. Actual assignments will depend upon department needs. The Department seeks a colleague with expertise in Spanish language and literature with the ability to teach in both Spanish and English languages. Faculty will have the opportunity to teach courses in Spanish language and Spanish, Spanish-American and/or other Latino/ a literatures. Faculty will also support Spanish program development, collaborate with and advise our Spanish Club, and assist with advising Spanish majors and minors.

Requisitos 

Required Qualifications
  • ABD or PhD in Spanish Language, Spanish Literature or a related field
  • Experience teaching courses in Spanish language and Spanish/Spanish-American/Latino/a literatures in Spanish and the English language
  • Evidence of research/scholarship in Spanish language or literatures
  • Ability to teach classes through multifaceted teaching strategies for face-to- face classroom delivery, distance learning, or blended learning
  • Ability to support student extracurricular engagement in Spanish Language and Literature
  • Evidence of ability to teach diverse student populations.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
  • Successful interview, scholarly presentation, and teaching demonstration.
  • Three successful background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Spanish Language and/or Literatures.
  • Ability to teach courses in Spanish composition and oral expression.
  • Evidence of teaching with high-impact practices.
