The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Cultures at Assumption University seeks to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) of Spanish for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Visiting Assistant Professors teach seven courses during the year, on a 4-3 or 3-4 schedule, and hold six office hours per week for students. In this position, the VAP will teach four courses in the fall and three in the spring.
VAPs in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages participate in the life of the department and may be asked to assist with student-oriented events or other department matters. Attendance at department meetings may be requested, depending on the agenda. VAPs are welcome and encouraged to participate in campus-wide workshops and events for faculty.
Fall 2025 Courses:
- SPA 101.01 Spanish I: MWF 9:30-10:20
- SPA 101.02 Spanish I: MWF 10:30-11:20
- SPA 102.02 Spanish II: MWF 11:30-12:20
- SPA 202.01 Spanish IV: MWF 12:30-1:20
Spring 2026 Courses:
- Likely to include Spanish 101, Spanish 102, and SPA 202 sections.
This position is for in-person teaching on campus only.
Classes are capped at 18 students, with consideration to over-admit up to 2 students. Contracts for VAPs begin on August 18. Class meetings for the Fall 2025 semester run from August 25 to December 5, with final exams from December 8 to 12, and final grades due on December 15. The Spring 2026 semester begins January 20, and classes end May 4, with final exams from May 6 to 9, and grades due on May 13 for seniors and May 16 for other students.
Requisitos
- Applicants must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University and show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
- Applicants should have a master's degree or PhD in Spanish or a related field. ABD graduate students with prior teaching experience will also be considered.
