Descripción 

The School of Social Science and Global Studies at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track Visiting Instructor of Spanish for the 2023-2024 academic year.  The School is seeking candidates with a background in Teaching Languages or Second Language Acquisition with a commitment to excellent teaching and at least 18 graduate hours in Spanish. The selected candidate may teach face-to-face and/or online courses. The School strongly values and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and scholarship. Applicants who have experience teaching and mentoring in a university setting with a diverse student body are preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach four courses per semester;
  • Hold regular office hours;
  • Attend faculty meetings as determined by Director of the School of Social Science and Global Studies and the Coordinator of the Spanish program;
  • Provide service in order to assist the functioning of the Program and School;
  • Assist in collecting assessment data as outlined by the Program Coordinator;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requisitos 

Minimum Qualifications
 Master’s degree in Spanish, Teaching of Languages, or Second Language Acquisition (or related field) with at least 18 graduate hours of Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications  
 Master’s Degree in Spanish, Teaching of Languages, or Second Language Acquisition (or related field) with a record of high-quality teaching and experience teaching and mentoring in a university setting with a diverse student body.
